Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival to Guatemala City and Transfer to Antigua

Welcome to Guatemala! Upon your arrival at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, one of our Silverbacks representatives will greet you and transfer you to the picturesque city of Antigua. After checking into your cozy hotel, take some time to stroll along the charming cobblestone streets, admire the historical architecture, and explore the lively markets. Later, savor authentic Guatemalan cuisine at a nearby restaurant for a delightful dinner experience.

Day 2: Hiking Volcán Acatenango

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure as you hike the mighty Volcán Acatenango. We’ll start the day with an early breakfast before taking you to the trailhead, where experienced guides will lead you on the ascent. Although the hike may be challenging, the stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and neighboring Volcán Fuego, which often displays an awe-inspiring lava eruption, make it a rewarding experience. When you arrive at the base camp, you’ll have a private tent and can prepare to witness a breathtaking sunset over the valley. You can also enjoy a warm cup of chocolate and dinner from our Basecamp.

Day 3: Summit Sunrise on Volcán Acatenango and summit sunset on Volcán de Fuego

Begin your day before dawn by rising early and donning headlamps to embark on a short pre-dawn hike up to the summit of Volcán Acatenango. As the sun rises, you’ll be mesmerized by the breathtaking views of the Guatemalan highlands and the awe-inspiring volcanic eruptions of Volcán Fuego. After watching the sunrise, return to the base camp for a satisfying breakfast. Take some time to rest and relax to soothe your muscles after the challenging hike.

Later in the afternoon, after lunch and maybe a nap, you can embark on another thrilling hiking adventure to the active Volcán Fuego (subject to park authorities’ approval and safety conditions) to witness the sunset. This experience offers you the opportunity to see volcanic activity up close. Stand in absolute awe as you observe the volcanic eruptions and hear the rumble of the earth beneath your feet.

Day 4: Descent Volcán Acatenango

Begin your day with an early breakfast, followed by a peaceful descent from base camp while meditating. Return to Antigua and spend the afternoon leisurely, followed by a farewell dinner. Share your unforgettable experience of exploring the volcanoes with your friends. Here’s an opportunity to highlight your one-of-a-kind journey.

Day 5: Volcán Pacaya Trekking

Prepare for another thrilling adventure as you head to Volcán Pacaya. This active volcano offers a fantastic hiking experience, with the opportunity to see lava solid rocks and experience the raw power of nature. Your experienced guide will lead you through the volcanic landscapes, and you’ll have the chance to roast marshmallows over the hot lava fields and taste the unique lava pizza. After the hike, return to Antigua for a relaxing evening.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Atitlán – Kayaking

Bid farewell to Antigua as we transfer you to the breathtaking Lake Atitlán. Upon arrival, settle into your lakeside accommodation in Sunset Atitlan, San Marcos, and soak in the stunning views of the towering volcanoes surrounding the azure waters. You can take a guided kayaking adventure in the calm lake in the afternoon. You’ll get to discover secluded coves and appreciate the peacefulness of this enchanting location.

Day 6: Indian Nose Sunrise Hike

Start your day early with an unforgettable sunrise hike to Indian Nose, a distinctive vantage point providing a breathtaking Lake Atitlán view.

Watch the sky and the sparkling lake below come to life with dramatic colors as the sun rises. Once you finish the hike, take the time to explore the delightful lakeside villages. Each village offers an opportunity to learn about the indigenous Mayan culture and traditional crafts.

You deserve to relax and unwind for the remainder of the day. You can enjoy the tranquil ambiance of the hotel’s jacuzzi and sauna. Later, treat yourself to a delightful farewell dinner provided by Silverbacks Experiences.

Day 7: Departure

As your adventure comes to a close, savor the breathtaking sights of Lake Atitlán before we bring you back to Guatemala City for your flight home or next destination.
